Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
The H.D. Cooke Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) promotes and supports the education and culture of the students at H.D. Cooke. Each year the PTO sponsors events such as Movie Night, Hispanic Heritage and Black History celebrations, Field Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, and many others.
There are opportunities to contribute in many ways - from home, in the school, and in different ways throughout the year. Please see the list of committees below which you are welcome to join. (Note, there is no membership payment required to join the PTO).

Please support the PTO by clicking on the "Donate" button in the right side bar. Some of the major ways the H.D. Cooke PTO has helped the school in the past year include:
Providing financial and other support for: equipment for the music teacher; books for the library and students; early childhood field trips; a school-wideÂ Winter concert and Black History Month concert; teacher and staff appreciation activities; and Kindergarten graduation;
Organizing community meetings and family fun nights at the school and local restaurants; and
Maintaining an email contact group that provides information and resources for interested members of the H.D. Cooke community.
Funds raised this year will be used to purchase new materials and storage for recess, and focus on plantings in the front and back garden areas. We know what makes this school special - a loving community of teachers and families. Looking for ways to help out? There are many opportunities that need volunteers, and there are several committees you can join. Please reach out to the PTO leadership for more information!
Chairperson: Mariann Gallo
This committee concentrates on the planning of social and family events such as Movie Night, Teacher Appreciation, monthly family meetings, etc.
Chairperson: Maria Felenyuk
This committee will focus on the annual fundraising drive, researching and applying for grants, organizing fundraising events such as bake sales, yard sales, etc.
School Beautification and Improvement Committee
Chairperson: Kleopatra Nikolaou
This committee will work with the PTO Board to identify needs and organize planting of the front and back flowerbeds, playground and recess improvement, and general school upkeep.

If you prefer, donations may also be made by cash or check (made out to H.D. Cooke PTO). Please place your donation in an envelope with your name and your child's name and grade, and bring it to either your child's teacher or the front office.
